International Humanitarian Aid: More aids arrives from China, Hong Kong and UNICEF

An aircraft, carrying humanitarian aid materials and medicines donated by the Chinese government and people for the earthquake victims, arrived at Yangon International Airport on Thursday.

The relief items include food, tarpaulins, and purified drinking water bottles, weighing over 90,000 kg. Officials from the Chinese Embassy handed over the relief supplies to Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Soe Thein.

Additionally, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, through the Myanmar Consulate in Hong Kong, has sent 27 tons emergency supplies, including cleaning materials, solar-powered lamps, blankets, medicines, ready-to-eat food, and tarpaulins, valued at over 2.1 million Hong Kong dollars.

Likewise, the relief supplies to be distributed through the UNICEF Myanmar arrived at Yangon International Airport. These items include medicines, consumer goods and relief aid, weighing over 78,000 kg. Following the severe earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, the government has rapidly investigated the damage in the earthquake-affected regions and is simultaneously carrying out rescue operations, calling for international humanitarian assistance.
