Coordination Meeting: Forum on rebuilding Myanmar to be held

A coordination meeting for the "Rebuilding Myanmar: Post-Earthquake Economic Recovery" forum was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Information in Nay Pyi Taw on May 15.

At the meeting, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn stated that the upcoming forum is intended to facilitate practical discussions involving business owners and interested members of the public. The aim is to foster greater collaboration between the people and the business entrepreneurs and to achieve meaningful outcomes that will contribute to the country's progress.

Following that, Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn remarked that the forum will be beneficial to several sectors, including the economic sector, and that the outcomes of the forum could provide valuable support for the recovery efforts.

Then, Permanent Secretary U Win Kyaw Aung explained the purpose of the forum, the topics to be discussed, the participants, and the invitation plan in detail. Next, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, UMFCCI Chairman U Aye Win, departmental officials, Chairman of Myanmar Narrative Think Tank U Ko Ko, Director Dr. Zaw Oo, and Daw Khaing Khaing Nwe discussed preparations being made across relevant sectors to ensure the forum's success and shared their suggestions and requirements.

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn concluded the meeting with closing remarks. The forum will focus on three main themes such as the economic impact of the recent major earthquake in Mandalay, challenges and opportunities in economic recovery, collaborative solutions for economic rehabilitation.

The aim is to support the recovery of businesses affected by the Mandalay earthquake, explore new domestic and international market opportunities emerging in the post-disaster period, and identify ways to enhance the national economy.

Additionally, the forum will provide insights into the geopolitical and geo-economic opportunities available to Myanmar and how they can be utilized to expand local product markets. It will also promote stronger collaboration among businesspeople. The event is open to any interested participants who wish to attend.
