Honoring Medalist Athletes: MOC Chairman delivered an address

In the evening of February 9, a ceremony of honor for the Myanmar national judo team, which brought honor to the country at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games held in Thailand in 2025, was held at the multi-purpose hall of the Sports Training Camp (Gold Camp) in Nay Pyi Taw.

Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee and Union Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, attended and delivered an address. First, in his opening address, the Union Minister stated that this ceremony is held to honor the achievements of the judo team, which won 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, bringing honor to the nation.

He noted that to achieve such successes, the Myanmar Judo Federation hired a Japanese coach for training and also sent athletes to international invitation tournaments and age-group competitions held abroad annually to gain international competition experience.

Therefore, he expressed recorded gratitude and appreciation to the Federation's Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and responsible officials, and so on. Next, the Union Minister presented a certificate of honor to U Ye Min Thu from Aung Myanmar Hein Company Limited, which donated 70 million kyats for the success at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games. Deputy Ministers U Htein Lin and U Zin Min Htet presented certificates of honor to Dr. Zaw Tun Naing from Thirawmani Company Limited and businessman U Law Ti from Maha Shwe Zambu Company Limited, who each donated 10 million kyats for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games honor ceremony.

Afterwards, the Union Minister, Deputy Ministers, and responsible officials presented honorarium cash awards to the medal-winning athletes. On behalf of the award-winning athletes, silver medalist and bronze medalist Aye Aye Aung gave a speech of thanks. A group commemorative photo was taken, the ceremony was concluded, and a dinner was hosted for the attendees, it’s learnt.
