Providing Assistance for Elderly: MOSWRR UM provided assistances to elderly residents

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win visited and provided assistance to the elderly residents at the Aye Nyein Chan Thar Gila Na Home for the Aged (Pyinmana), the Pyinmana Home for the Aged, and the Karuna World Home for the Aged on February 10. The Director-General and responsible officials, administrative committee members for each home, and home staff attended.

The Union Minister provided direct cash assistance of 50,000 kyats per person to the elderly residents of the homes, and also distributed Standard Dignity Kits.

Afterwards, the Union Minister explained that the State is also doing its utmost to address the needs of the elderly. He stated that in order for the elderly to live well, homes for the aged are systematically reviewed and permitted to be established. Furthermore, training is organized and provided for those who will care for the elderly, and financial support is given to the homes. In addition to social welfare support, this additional assistance will, to a certain extent, help with their daily living needs. He conveyed greetings, expressing his wish for them to have good health and well-being to cultivate virtuous practices, and personally went around encouraging and greeting each individual, it’s reported.
