






The severe Mandalay earthquake that struck on March 28 has caused extensive damages in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. On Wednesday, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing made inspection to assess the damages.
He first visited the Myanmar International Convention Center-1, to view the damages and gave instructions. Due to the severe earthquyake, the ceiling of the main building entrance, Jade Hall, Ruby Hall and Emerald Hall were damaged while the cracks were formed on the walls of meeting rooms. On arrival at the Yan Aung Myin Dam in Deckhinathiri Township, the Prime Minister viewed the repair works at the damaged areas of the dam and instructed for completion of the tasks before the rainy season.
The earthquake has caused structural damages on the dam, and at present, repair works are underway with filling sand into the cracks and soil testing. The Prime Minister and party visited the Zabuthiri Township Sports Ground in Shwe Kyar Pin Ward where the health care services are being provided to the affected communities.
The Samaritan’s Purse International Relief Organization, based in the United States, provides health treatment to the patients, setting up a mobile hospital. This modern mobile hospital was built by the container boxes in cooperation with the Myanmar Army Medical Corps and Directorate of Military Engineering Office.
It equipped with the out-patient department, emergency unit, operation theatre, medical store and laboratory, facilitating 60 patients. The hospital provides free treatment to the patients with vairous illness, in collaboration with the surgeons, orthopaedists, professors and nurses from the Myanmar Army Medical Corps.
The US Medical Team arrived Myanmar on April 4th and started medical treatment on April 7. Twenty patients have already received treatment at the hospital. Plans are underway to open one Intensive Care Unit and tow more operation theatres on April 10th.
