







In Kachin State, Myanma Railways is actively concerted efforts on repairing of the Myitkyina–Mohnyin Railway under Kachin State Government’s supervision to resume early, aiming to improve low-cost transport. Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan inspected repair works in Mohnyin District, including stations, bridges No. 611, 615 and 627, track renewal, and clearance of approach lines.
According to the Myanma Railways, the restoration of the Myitkyina–Mohnyin Railway is continuing to resume full operations. Of the 89-mile section, 36.75 miles between Moehnyin and Myitkyina are already operational, while the remaining 52.25 miles are under repair with completion targeted for 2026. Repair work began on March 23 and has so far included restoration of four stations, installation of bridge piers and steel frames, and ongoing track rehabilitation.
Separately, heavy rains from June 20–22 caused flooding in Moe Kaung Township, with river levels rising over danger marks and inundating residential areas. About 3,080 houses across multiple wards and village tracts were affected, displacing limited households to relief centers in monasteries and religious sites. The Chief Minister visited the site, together with concerned officials and provided basic foodstuff and assistance to affected families while giving words of encouragement.
Due to the high water level, a total of 3,080 houses and 3,117 households in the urban areas of Moe Kaung Township, Kyun Pin Tha Village Tract, Kyar Inn Village Tract, and Nammati Township suffered severe flooding. Similarly, more than 2,000 fields belonging to more than 300 farmers in HtoPu, Kyar Inn, Lwe Law, Ywa Thit Ward, and Kyun Taw Ward were flooded.
