"The country already possesses abundant land and underground natural resources and great potential. What the people need is the ability and the willingness to work, and all must truly get to work." It was stated by President U Min Aung Hlaing during the Union Government meeting held Tuesday afternoon at the Union Government meeting hall at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw, according to reports.
The meeting was attended by Vice Presidents U Nyo Saw and Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Union Ministers, and the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, while Region and State Chief Ministers participated via video conferencing. First, the President delivered the opening address. He stated that the government bears the responsibility of working for the nation's prosperity, and that all regions and states must cooperate to ensure the success of projects, requiring sector-by-sector implementation.
He emphasized the need to fully implement projects planned for each fiscal year and highlighted that in the upcoming fiscal year, priority should be given to upgrading the education and transportation sectors. The President noted that while expanding production industries, existing industries must also be continuously maintained.
By doing so, domestic production would increase. He stressed that all factories and workshops should be operational, and that regions and states should work to boost productivity. As Myanmar is an agricultural nation, he said, efforts must be made to achieve 100% cultivation of all designated crops.
Regarding livestock, regions and states should work to further improve their respective sectors. On education, the President stated that school enrollment across regions and states has reached over 7.2 million. For the development of the sports sector, he stated that systematic training should begin at the basic education level, and that physical education instructors and sports coaches should be provided to train students and young people to participate actively in sports.
The President also urged efforts toward the full domestic production and sale of electric vehicles (EVs), from start to finish, as well as the development and use of electric cargo trucks and public transport vehicles within the country. Following the President's address, Union Ministers and Region/State Chief Ministers presented discussions on their respective sectors.
In response to their presentations, the President made concluding remarks, noting that Union Ministers, Region and State Chief Ministers, and officials at district and state levels need to maintain good engagement with their departmental staff and ensure fair and balanced governance.
While the government formulates and implements policies based on its own objectives, it must not ignore the will of the people, he said. Since preferences and perspectives differ across sectors and social strata, efforts must be made to ensure alignment between the public's aspirations and the government's policy direction by accurately hearing the voices of the people. He urged all to work diligently for the socio-economic development of the state and its citizens, and then the meeting was concluded, it’s reported.
