Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin, accompanied by officials, inspected the renovation work on the Sasana Maha Beikman Building within the precincts of Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory at 9:30 am today. The building was damaged by the powerful Mandalay earthquake that struck on 28 March 2025.

During the inspection, the Project Director of Htoo Construction and Development Co., Ltd. briefed the Union Minister on the ongoing renovation work and the progress made to date.

The Union Minister then inspected the completed and ongoing work in detail. He said that, in accordance with the guidance of the Ovadacariya Sayadaws, the renovation must preserve the building’s original design while ensuring that it is structurally strong enough to withstand an earthquake of intensity level 8. He also stressed that the work must comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the renovation of pagodas and religious buildings. As Htoo Construction and Development Co., Ltd., the original donor, is undertaking the renovation as a donation, the company is also gaining merit through its contribution, he added.

The Sasana Maha Beikman Building within the precincts of Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory was originally donated by the Htoo Group of Companies family on 7 March 2009 as a meritorious offering dedicated to the perfection of Sasana Maha Wimana Dana Parami . Following the damage caused by the powerful Mandalay earthquake, the original donor, Htoo Construction and Development Co., Ltd., began renovation work on 10 August 2026. Approximately 90 per cent of the work has been completed to date, and the remaining work is scheduled to be completed in November 2026, according to reports.
