Welcoming Ceremony: YGN CM welcomed Region and State swimming teams

A welcome ceremony for participating teams of the upcoming 2026 Region and State Swimming Competition was held at Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium (1) in Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region on Tuesday. Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee Chairman Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu attended the event and delivered an opening speech, together with officials from the Yangon Region Government, Myanmar Swimming Federation, and participating regions and states. The competition will be held from June 24 to 25 with 182 athletes. Players and officials were hosted with tea and snacks during the event.

Separately on the same day, the Chief Minister and party attended a School Library Development and Reading Habit Promotion Campaign at No. (1) Basic Education High School (Dagon), organized by the Yangon Region Government in collaboration with the Information and Public Relations Department and the Department of Basic Education.

The event was formally opened by the Chief Minister and officials, followed by the student performances and an opening speech by the Chief Minister. Cash Awards and commemorative gifts were then presented to the speaker Writer Lynn Thaik Nyunt (Myanmar’s Land) and performing troupes.

The Chief Minister and party later inspected exhibitions, library facilities, student competition areas and awareness displays including health, literature, traffic safety, first aid and fire safety, it’s reported.
