The newly upgraded Loikaw-Lawpita asphalt concrete road was officially commissioned into service on Friday in honor of the 78th Anniversary of Union Day.

The Loikaw-Lawpita road, originally asphalt, has been upgraded to asphalt concrete, improving connectivity and transportation. Built with 2024-2025 state capital funds, the new road is 2 miles, 1 furlong and 263 feet long and 18 feet wide.

At the event, Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin emphasized the fruitful outcomes, highlighting the collaboration of all ethnic communities in the region, who strive for peace and stability. He urged locals to continue working together for regional development and the road's long-term sustainability.

This was followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting event, inaugurating the arch of the newly upgraded road, and performances by the Pom Pom, Zumba and Fitness Dance Troupes as well as traditional music and Doe Pat troupes. Awards and prizes were later presented to the performers. The Chief Minister and party then strolled along the road and warmly greeted the locals and students along the way.
