Drugs Seizure: 1.4 million Stimulant tablets worth over Ks 2 billion seized

More than 1.4 million stimulant tablets worth over 2 billion kyats were seized in Padaung Township and Hmawbi Township, according to Myanmar Police Force.

According to reports, a combined team including members of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, acting on a tip-off, stopped and searched a MITSUBISHI vehicle driven by Ko Ko Lwin (aka Ko Gyi) at around 5:30 p.m. on June 15 near Ywarthitkone Village on the Pyay–Okshitpin road in Padaung Township, Bago Region. During the search, authorities seized 1.4 million stimulant tablets.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Than Soe, who was allegedly involved in transporting and distributing the stimulant tablets, at around 7:30 p.m. on June 16 in Pinnekone Village, Hmawbi Township. Authorities also seized an additional 25,000 stimulant tablets and one motorcycle from him. Altogether, the operation resulted in the seizure of 1.425 million stimulant tablets with an estimated local market value of 2.15 billion kyats.

According to follow-up investigations, the main person behind the transportation of the seized stimulant tablets was identified as Nyi Nyi Lwin (aka Ko Nyi) from Aye Myitta Village, Hmawbi Township, who remains at large. Under his direction, Zin Ko Lat from Ngayant Chaung Village, Hsinhpaungwe Township, and Min Khant Soe from Natpalin Village, Nyaung-U Township, both also still at large, allegedly transferred the drugs in Pyay Township. Authorities have taken legal action against those involved under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and are continuing investigations to identify and apprehend other connected offenders, it’s reported.
