The 2026 State-Level Monsoon Tree Planting Festival, being held for the fourth time, was organized at the compound of the Basic Education Primary School in Ingyin Myaing Village, Palana ပလန-3, Myitkyina, Kachin State. Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan and members of the state government attended and participated in the tree-planting event.

First, the Chief Minister delivered an opening speech at the ceremony. Saplings to be planted during the festival were then distributed to government departments, various organizations, and local residents from wards and villages. Afterwards, government staff, local residents, members of the Red Cross, and civil society and social welfare organizations joyfully planted a total of 250 perennial shade trees at designated locations within the school compound. The Chief Minister and responsible officials warmly greeted and encouraged those participating in the tree planting activities.

Following this, the Chief Minister and officials visited temporary shelters for Shan ethnic groups located in Shwepyithar Ward. Due to continuous heavy rainfall, the water level of the Nan Kwe နန်းကွေ့ Creek had risen and caused flooding in the camps, creating difficulties for the displaced households. The officials inspected the camps, met with affected families, and coordinated with departmental officials and camp managers to provide necessary assistance and support.

Afterwards, at the camp hall, the Chief Minister met with the households and delivered words of encouragement. The Chief Minister donated 5 million kyats, the State Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation donated another 5 million kyats, and the State Advocate General donated 1 million kyats in support. The Chief Minister also coordinated with responsible officials to arrange necessary assistance for the families and to dispatch healthcare teams for medical support, it’s reported.
