Situated over 3,300 ft above sea level, Hsiseng in Shan State (South) stands as a pleasant town, bordered by Hopone in the north, Mauk Mae in the east, Kayah State in the south, and Pekhon, NyaungShwe, and Taunggyi in the west. The town is predominantly inhabited by Pa-O nationals who engage in their livelihoods peacefully.

However, starting from February 16th, the tranquility of the region was disrupted by the destructive acts of the PNLO, KNPP, KNDF, and PDF terrorists. These groups infiltrated Pa-O villages in the Maenae Hill area of Hopone Township, including Hsiseng, disguising themselves as villagers. They launched attacks on Tatmadaw posts and security forces, set fire to village houses, and committed acts of violence against locals while looting their properties.

Consequently, many residents were forced to flee to safer locations. After 32 days of operation, normalcy has been restored to the region through the collective efforts of local Tatmadawmen, People’s Militia, and community members. Displaced persons have returned to their homes, and rehabilitation measures are underway, spearheaded by Tatmadawmen, members of the Police Force, departmental staff, People’s Militia, and local nationals.

Additionally, relief items and cash assistance are being provided by the concerned authorities. The successful retaking of control in Hsiseng serves as evidence of the cooperative strength exhibited by the Tatmadaw, People’s Militia, and local community in restoring peace and stability to the region.
