


The American Center Yangon held an experience sharing event of Myanmar alumni of the U.S. programs on Thursday.
More than 20 alumni from U.S educational and professional programs participated in the open-house event named “Changing Lives, Bettering Communities” as the representatives. U.S ambassador to Myanmar, Scot Marciel joined the event and gave an opening remark.
Ambassador, U.S. Embassy in Yangon, H.E. Scot Marciel said “… Our programs are just trying to help a little bit given and some opportunities may be some trainings, and educational opportunities. And they can do even more to benefit the country...”
The Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, Marie Royce joined the event as a special guest and met with the alumni. The alumni from various educational and professional sectors shared their experience about scholarship and how these programs have an effect on the society.
Fulbright Alumni, Maw Htun Aung said “We, the scholarship alumni, clarified the projects we did after the programs and how it is effective to our society. There are many scholarship alumni from various different programs including Fulbright, Humphrey, YSEALI, professional fellow programs and other exchange program to the United States may be there are 20 groups in total.”
Apart from the scholarship alumni, young people who are interested in the U.S. government scholarship programs attended the event.
Participant, Khin Htut Kyaw said “I’m a member of the library of American Center Yangon. I was interested in the event. So, I come here to explore experience of the scholarship alumni. I hope to get knowledge from their experience sharing.”
At American Center Yangon, there are various educational and professional programs and workshops for scholarship sponsored by the U.S government.
