









Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing made inspection in Inle region on Friday to assess the impact of the severe Mandalay earthquake. They first visited Kaylar Village in Nyaung Shwe Township and asked after the condition of damaged houses.
The Prime Minister instructed for speedy renovation of the damaged houses with the support of skilled carpenters in the region while clearing the collapsed houses for reconstruction.
In meeting with the quake-hit communities, the Prime Minister heard reports on the conditions of damaged infrastructures and the needs of timbers and zinc sheets for reconstruction of houses.
The Prime Minister instructed to work I cooperation with the Ministry of Construction and the Directorate of Military Engineering for renovation and reconstruction of houses before the rainy season, ensuring the durability of the structures. He also pledged to provide timber, zinc sheets and cement needed for the construction works.
In addition, foodstuff will be provided to the affected communities for one month period, along with the construction of a station hospital for convenient medical treatment. He called for cooperation of all entire citizens in implementing the rehabilitation works with unity and harmony.
After the meeting, the Prime Minister provided foodstuff and cash assistance to the affected communities while presenting cash rewards to the rescue teams who contribute in relief operations. They then visited the Inle Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and viewed the damaged religious edifices.
The Prime Minister stressed for speedy renovation tasks for ensuring long term durability of the pagoda, and completion of the tasks before the annual pagoda festival.
Then, the Prime Minister and party offered flowers and water to the Buddha Image while offering gold foils. Cash donations were also made for all-round renovation of the pagoda.
During the tour, the Prime Minister presented the cash rewards to the members of Myanmar Police Force and Fire Brigade who are carrying out the relief measures.
The powerful Mandalay earthquake is the one of the strongest disaster in Myanmar history. As of April 11, 3,675 people were reported death with 5,020 injured and 141 remained missing. The government is providing 1 million kyat for each deceased victims while assisting the needs depending on the losses.
