Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, accompanied by Chief of the Myanmar Police Force, Police Lt-Gen Win Zaw Moe, Deputy Chief of Police (1) Police Maj-Gen Tin Ko Ko, and officials, conducted an on-site inspection of the temporary shelter constructions for the earthquake-affected staff and their families from the Minister’s office, units, and departments on April 16.

The Union Minister and officials visited the police band and entertainment division compound in Pobbathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, where temporary shelters are being built for the relocation of earthquake-affected staff and their families. They inspected the progress of the construction as well as the land areas designated for continued expansion. Responsible officials presented updates on the status of the completed construction and plans for the next stages.

In response, the Union Minister instructed that necessary requirements be addressed and encouraged the completion of the construction works before the end of May. Following this, the Union Minister and officials visited the Gantgaw Housing Complex in Mingalartheiddhi Ward, Zabuthiri Township. There, they inspected buildings No. (211) and (216), which had been cleared for reoccupation after assessments by inspection teams from the Department of Buildings under the Ministry of Construction confirmed that the buildings had sustained no major structural damage during the earthquake.

The Union Minister offered words of encouragement to staff and their families who had returned to live in those buildings. He also gave instructions to ensure access to water supply, expedite repairs to the electrical systems, and carry out departmental repairs on minor damages within the buildings. Furthermore, it was reported that the concerns raised by the staff and their families were addressed in coordination with relevant officials.
