







"Whenever the state has faced disasters, the Fire Brigade is recognized, recorded, and honored for not only fire prevention efforts but also for risking their lives and striving to the fullest in search, rescue, and rehabilitation operations," said Vice President U Nyo Saw in his commemorative speech at the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of the Myanmar Fire Brigade, held on the morning of May 5th at MICC – I in Nay Pyi Taw.
The Vice President stated that regarding natural disaster events, under the management of the government, the Fire Brigade personnel, together with the military, the Myanmar Police Force, other departments, and social organizations, have been able to collaborate effectively and swiftly in every disaster they have encountered.
He noted that the state has already given permission to form two Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Medium Team-level teams, drawing lessons from the Mandalay earthquake incident, in line with international practices. He also urged that Fire Brigade personnel must continuously train and prepare to improve and elevate their operational capabilities.
Afterwards, Vice President U Nyo Saw presented honorary awards to U Tun Shwe, a nationally renowned singer of the classic fire brigade song "Fire Safety Awareness"; to former professional and auxiliary fire brigade personnel aged 90 and above who served in fire services, including Senior Fire Sergeant U Tun Kyi and U Thaung Myint; to retired Deputy Auxiliary Battalion Commander U Chit Hlaing; and to retired Deputy Fire Chief U Tin Nyunt.
The Union Minister for Home Affairs then presented honorary awards to those who have received the Police Bravery Medal “Ye Bala”. Subsequently, Vice President U Nyo Saw, together with attendees, observed the exhibition halls displaying documentary photos from regions and states, historical antique firefighting equipment galleries, advanced emergency response communication systems, modern firefighting and search-and-rescue equipment galleries, as well as the display of vintage fire trucks and machinery from various eras and a search dog demonstration arranged in front of the hall.
