“Be Human Kind”: 2022 World Red Cross Day celebrated in Yangon

Under theme, “Be Human Kind”, the 2022 World Red Cross Day was celebrated in Yangon on 8th May. It aimed to pay a tribute to the people of all ages, young and old who contribute their efforts to help the people in needs with kindness.

As the world has been undergoing Covid-19 pandemic and humanitarian crisis, it is time to spread humanity that is one of the fundamental principles of Red Cross to all communities by helping each other.

Prof  Dr. Htin Zaw Soe, Secretary General, Myanmar Red Cross Society said "World Red Cross Day is celebrated on 8th May annually to commemorate the birthday of Mr. Henry Dunant, founder of International Red Cross. The ceremony is celebrated to honor the Red Cross members and donors who provide humanitarian assistance to those who are in need."

At the event, 13 Red Cross members who served in the Myanmar Red Cross Society until the age of 65 were honoured. 

Hla Tun, Donor, Mawlamyine, Mon State said "I will try my best to provide necessary assistance to Myanmar Red Cross Society. I’m very happy to be honored by the Society. I will continue to support the red cross members and our religion for the rest of my life."

Than Aung Moe, Red Cross Commander, Dagon Myothit (North) Township said "We are providing humanitarian services with the help of the people. Red Cross members must help everyone who is in need. I believe people will support us if we try our best to provide the best services."

The Myanmar Red Cross Society celebrated this year’s World Red Cross Day in recognition of the courage and achievements of Red Cross volunteers and staff who have pledged to provide humanitarian services to save lives and change lives for the better.
