Myanmar-Thailand RBC Meeting: 38th Myanmar-Thailand RBC Meeting held in Kengtung

The opening ceremony of the 38th Myanmar-Thailand Regional Border Committee Meeting, hosted by Myanmar, was held on the morning of June 30 at the Amazing Kengtong Resort Hotel in Kengtung, Shan State (East).

The ceremony was attended by the leader of the Myanmar delegation, Ma-J Gen.Kyaw Lin Maung from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), the deputy delegation leader, Lt-Gen Zaw Min Lat, senior military officials, departmental officials and the leader of the Thai delegation, Lt. Gen. Warathep Boonya, along with its members.

First, the leader of the Myanmar delegation, Maj Gen Kyaw Lin Maung, and the leader of the Thai delegation, Lt-Gen. Warathep Boonya, delivered respective speeches, followed by an exchange of introductions among members of both delegations. Afterward, the delegation leaders joined the attendees for a group photo session and cordially greeted the members before concluding the opening ceremony.

During the 38th Myanmar-Thailand Regional Border Committee Meeting, discussions were held on various topics, including bilateral border affairs, ongoing and future collaborative efforts between the two countries on drug prevention and suppression, joint measures to combat the presence of illegal foreigners and online fraud and gambling activities in border areas, sectoral cooperation in border regions and other related matters.

In the evening, the leader of the Myanmar delegation, Maj-Gen. Kyaw Lin Maung, hosted a congratulatory dinner at the Sein Pan Ni Ni Guest Hall for the leader of the Thai delegation, Lt. Gen. Warathep Boonya, and members of both delegations attending the border committee meeting.

Commemorative gifts were exchanged between the two sides. The second day of the meeting continued July 1stmorning at the Amazing Kengtong Resort Hotel. The leaders of both delegations signed and exchanged the agreements reached at the 38th Myanmar-Thailand Regional Border Committee Meeting, and delivered concluding speeches.

Afterward, the delegation leaders exchanged commemorative emblems and took a group photo with the committee members. During their stay in Myanmar, the Thai delegation members visited and paid homage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw, visited the Memorial to the Fallen Heroes (Nay Pyi Taw) and paid tribute with floral wreaths and paid homage to the prominent pagodas in Kengtung. They also visited landmark sites in Nay Pyi Taw and Kengtung.
