Diplomatic Briefing: Progress On Implementation Of The Five-Point Consensus

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin attended the diplomatic briefing in Yangon, Tuesday. The Union Minister clarified about the ongoing undertakings of the State Administration Council during one-year term, implementation of five-point roadmap, efforts to promote international cooperation so also recent progress in the activities of ASEAN, extension of unilateral ceasefire period until the end of 2022. Myanmar’s efforts to promote cooperation with ASEAN member states have never decreased. Since 2021, Myanmar has actively engaged with ASEAN Member States and its Dialogue Partners.

Member of the Union Election Commission U KhinMaungOo also clarified the summary of voter list scrutiny, findings on inspection of ballot papers, polling stations, irregularities on missing ballot papers and legal actions against the report cases. He also explained the UEC meeting with political parties where they approved closed list PR system while the FPTP system for 6 self-administered Zone/Division for AmyothaHluttaw and Ethnic Representative seats for the State/Region Hluttaws. 

Next, Advisors to the SAC Dr. Daw Yin YinNwe and Dr. Salai NgunCungLian as well as Police Brig-Gen AungHtayMyint of Transnational Crimes of the Ministry of Home Affairs discussed their comments on ego and violence, the double standard of counter terrorism and funding terrorism, the role of State Constitution and law enforcement on fake news which were well designed as the urban insurgencies to discredit the government. 

In his closing remarks, Union Minister U WunnaMaungLwin stated that Myanmar remains committed to continuing its engagement and never allow to root terrorism. While implementing coordination and cooperation with international organizations, the SAC holds dialogue with both signatory and non-signatory Ethnic Armed Organizations. He also discussed that terrorist entities should not be supported but constructive support to ensure democracy and normalcy in Myanmar.
