
The coordination meeting on holding the first Myanmar traditional cultural performing arts and the painting and sculpturing competition was held at the ministry of religious affairs and culture, Nay Pyi Taw on the morning on Thursday.
First, the union minister for religious affairs and culture U Ko Ko said that during the five years terms of the first government elected under the multiparty democratic system, by holding the national level Myanmar traditional cultural performing arts competition, the national prestige and integrity could be uplifted and cultural heritage and national character could be preserved and safeguarded. It was extended to the ethnic cultural performing arts competition.
During the tenure of the second government, the performing arts completion can be held only once in 2016 and it terminated in the rest years. People were apart from the Myanmar traditional cultural performing arts and the religious culture broke up to the extent that the foreign dance was performed on the image of Shwedagon pagoda.
During the short period of time in the tenure of taking state responsibilities by the state administration council, the ministry intends to revive the national traditional cultural performing arts competition to some extent within the ability. The competition classes will be divided into two including high education level and basic education level.
There will be men and women competitions in the two classes. The competition genres include the art of singing, dancing, marionette, painting and sculpture.
The responsible officials attending the meeting from each department are invited to discuss and coordinate.
Next, the deputy minister for religious affairs and culture and rectors discussed the preparations will be carried out for the competition which will be held during the third week of November or the first week of December, 2021 and the arrangements will be made as included in the plan.
Afterward, the union minister said that the competition will be the national level Myanmar traditional cultural performing arts mini competition and it will be held in Nay Pyi Taw in line with the Coronavirous Disease 2019 (COVID-19) prevention, control and treatment directives, it’s learnt.
