Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, along with his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and their entourage, paid homage to the prominent pagodas in the Bagan Archaeological Zone.

During their visit to Shwezigon Pagoda, a historical site built by King Anawrahta and King Kyan Sittha, the Prime Minister and party offered flowers, water, light, and a cash donation for the pagoda's all-round renovation. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintenance work to ensure rainwater does not accumulate on the slabs, preserving the terracotta plaques depicting the 550 Jataka tales, stone bowls, and ancient architectural designs in the Thudhamma Prayers' Hall without damaging the original structures.

He also called for regular inspections to prevent damage from natural disasters.Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted the need to educate pilgrims on the architectural development of the Bagan Era, using the bronze casting works of Buddha images as illustrative tools.

At Htilominlo Temple, the Prime Minister inspected the renovation works addressing damages caused by natural disasters and the construction of a sandstone slab lane within the temple compound. The Prime Minister and wife also made cash donations for offering gold foils to the Buddha images and further renovation works.

In May 2023, heavy rain in Bagan caused slight damages to eight ancient infrastructures and inundation at 15 ancient pagodas, including Shwezigon Pagoda and Htilominlo Temple. The ongoing renovation works have been carried out under the guidelines provided by the Prime Minister, ensuring that the original structures remain undamaged.
