The Ministry of Women’s Affairs launched a Women’s Development and Capacity-Building Program at Yezin Agricultural University in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Daw San San Nwe said the program was organized as a pre-event activity for Myanmar Women’s Day, which will be celebrated on July 3. She noted that women make up about 53 percent of Myanmar’s population and play a vital role in national development.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the ministry’s efforts to promote women’s empowerment, gender equality, and protection of women’s rights. She also outlined ongoing implementation of the National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women 2023–2032.

She emphasized the importance of education, vocational training, and employment opportunities for women, especially those in rural areas, to improve their livelihoods and economic independence. The program was attended by 110 trainees and included introductions by trainers and discussions on women’s development initiatives.
