Public Healthcare: Tatmadaw mobile medical team provides medical services

Tatmadaw sea-going hospital ship (Thanlwin) which includes specialists, medical officers, and nurses from Tatmadaw mobile medical team had provided medical services to the local people of Coco islands and Tanintharyi coastal areas from 4th to 31st May. The team had returned to No. (3) Naval Harbor (Thilawa) in Yangon city on June 1st, and were welcomed by senior officers and families from Tatmadaw (Navy).

The specialist medical team from  Tatmadaw sea-going hospital ship (Thanlwin) had provided medical services to the local people residing in areas around Coco islands and Tanintharyi coastal areas, such as Kyunsu, Sakhanthit village, Well island, Pyinsabu island and Pearl island, and Lamaing sub-township in Ye township of Mon State.

A total of 8,045 local patients were treated, including 2,544 medical treatment patients, 865 surgical patients, 824 obstetric and gynecological patients, 822 child patients, 763 orthopedic patients, 685 patients with ear, nose and throat diseases (ENT), 803 ophthalmological patients, and 739 dental patients. Among them, 122 patients had received eye surgery and 250 patients had received general surgery.

Moreover, 582 patients had received X-ray examination, 563 patients had received ultrasound examination, 1,599 patients had received lab tests, 754 patients had received ECG  check-up, and 33 patients had received CT scans. Additionally, 4 pregnant women had given birth successfully at the maternity ward inside the Hospital vessel.

Honorable gifts awarded by the Tatmadaw Commander-in-chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to the members of the Tatmadaw mobile medical team who had arrived by the  Tatmadaw sea-going hospital ship (Thanlwin) were given to the team by Major General Htein Win on behalf of the Commander-in-chief. Then, the team was hosted with a luncheon.

The Tatmadaw mobile medical team has been providing medical services to the local people in Myanmar coastal areas with the Tatmadaw sea-going hospital ship (Thanlwin) since 2016. It is learnt that it is the 13th time now, and a total of 112,500 local patients were given healthcare services; including 16 pregnant women.
