








In celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Armed Forces Day, new asphalt roads were opened in Aungmyaythazan and Mahaaungmyay Townships of Mandalay Region, and a tree-planting ceremony was held at the Yadanabon Garden on March 24.
The events were attended by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Commander of Central Command Brigadier General Kyaw Ko Htaik, Chief Justice of the Region High Court, members of the Region Government, officials, departmental representatives, local residents, and invited guests.
In his speech, the Chief Minister emphasized that these roads are part of efforts to develop Mandalay City, ensure the well-being of its residents, and facilitate smooth and convenient transportation in a short time.
He also highlighted the importance of aligning the roads with urban planning standards, reducing traffic congestion, and supporting education, healthcare, and social welfare initiatives.
He urged everyone to work together to maintain and preserve these roads for long-term sustainability.
Following this, the Regional Minister for Development and Mayor U Kyaw San explained the ongoing efforts to expand and upgrade city roads, improve traffic safety, and other related initiatives. A local resident then expressed gratitude on behalf of the community.
Then, the Chief Minister, the Commander, and the officials cut the ribbon to officially open the new asphalt road, presented commemorative gifts, inspected the road, and warmly greeted the local residents. They also awarded honorary funds to the band and floral decoration teams.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister and the Commander inspected the cleaning of major roads in the city, including washing the roads to ensure cleanliness and repainting traffic markings to enhance visibility and prevent traffic congestion and accidents.
Later, the Chief Minister and the Commander attended a tree-planting ceremony at Yadanabon Garden to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Armed Forces Day.
The Chief Minister and the Commander planted Gantgaw saplings, while the Region Supreme Court Chief Justice, Region Government members, and officials planted Gantgaw and jasmine saplings.
The Chief Minister and the Commander then greeted and encouraged the participants. It was reported that 100 Gantgaw trees and 100 jasmine trees were planted during the event.
