Int’l Literacy Day in Loikaw: Kayah State CM attended the ceremony

The International Literacy Day ceremony was held at the state hall in Loikaw in the morning on September 8. The event was attended by Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, members of the state government, officials, teachers, and students.

The ceremony began with a song titled "The Land Where the Flowers of Good Will Bloom," performed by students from Basic Education High School (BEHS) No. 5 in Loikaw.

Following the performance, the Chief Minister gave an opening speech. He emphasized the importance of literacy for everyone, noting that it is a crucial component of individual and social development. He stated that the event was held to accelerate literacy efforts for everyone. He also urged everyone to work together to create a society rich in literary knowledge.

Attendees then watched a video clip documenting literacy activities in honor of International Literacy Day 2025.

Next, an awards ceremony took place. The Chief Minister and state government members presented certificates of honor and cash awards to the students who won the essay and painting competitions. They also gave cash awards to the students from BEHS No. 5 and No. 7 who had performed celebratory songs. Students from BEHS No. 7 then performed a song titled "Let's All Help with Literacy."

After the ceremony, the Chief Minister warmly greeted the attending teachers and students. He toured the photo exhibition, which displayed books, magazines, and the award-winning essays and paintings. He also warmly greeted and encouraged the award-winning students.
