








Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, along with officials and local elders, visited the Satt Yon Dhamma Yeiktha Monastery in Kyonmangye, Wakema Township, Ayeyarwady Region, on September 3. They paid homage to the presiding Sayadawgyi of State Ovadacariya Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru, Bhaddanta Sumana, and members of Sangha. They offered Waso robes and other items.
After receiving a sermon from the Sayadawgyi, they shared the merits of their good deeds. Next, the Union Minister and officials offered a dawn-meal to the Sangha and nuns at the monastery, including the 450 people participating in the meditation retreat. They contributed cash donation for the food costs to the monastery's officials.
From there, the Union Minister visited the township offices of the Department of Immigration and Population in Wakema and Myaungmya Townships. He observed the staff carrying out Phase 3 of the Pan Khin Project, which aims to provide household population lists and citizenship scrutiny cards to residents who have lost or damaged theirs, as well as to those who have not yet received them.
The Union Minister warmly greeted the local residents, discussed any operational difficulties with them, and observed the staff's one-stop service process, which involves legally scrutinizing documents to provide household lists and citizenship cards. He also watched as the staff collected biographic and biometric data for the e-ID system to issue Unique ID numbers to those who already have their citizenship cards. He then coordinated with officials to address any operational needs.
The Union Minister also inspected the record rooms of the townships’ offices and provided necessary instructions to officials.
After that, the Union Minister met with officials from district and township offices in the Ayeyarwady Region at the military station's meeting hall in Myaungmya Township. He provided a detailed explanation and instructions on how to ensure that the process of scrutinizing candidates from various parties for the upcoming general election in December is completed on time. He stressed the importance of the staff working together in a unified manner with related departments to successfully hold the election and to fulfill their respective duties. He then addressed the staff's concerns and provided the necessary coordination.
