







On the riverbank of the Ngawan River near Kyaukhti on Kanar Road, Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region, a platform and open ground had been built for the public to relax, unwind, and engage in physical exercises for their health.
However, due to the currents of the Ngawan River, a crack approximately 130 feet in length appeared on the platform and ground. The Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw, visited the site Monday morning to conduct an on-site inspection. After hearing explanations from region departmental officials, the Chief Minister instructed that necessary measures be taken immediately to prevent any danger to the public and that repairs be carried out as quickly as possible. He also coordinated and addressed the required actions.
At the site, necessary precautions and warning signs have been put in place to ensure public safety. The Department of River and Canal Development of the region is also undertaking necessary measures to prevent further damage to the riverbank retaining wall.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister visited Pathein People's Hospital to observe and encourage the ongoing eye screening activities, which are part of a free eye surgery program for eye patients conducted by the Department of Medical Services under the Ministry of Health. He warmly greeted and encouraged the eye patients and their caregivers, and provided them with refreshments. The eye screening and treatment program will be carried out from the 22nd to the 28th of this month, it’s reported.
