





In commemoration of the full moon of 2nd Waso (Dhammacakka Day), 1385 ME, focusing on peace of mind and humanitarian ground, national solidarity and internal peace and bilateral relations of the countries, the State Administration Council Chairman has granted pardons to 7,749 male and female prisoners who are serving prison sentences at their respective prisons, jails and camps and 22 members of ethnic armed organizations.
The cases opened against the 72 EAOs affiliated persons under the trial at the respective courts have been permitted to withdraw and the punishment of 125 foreign prisoners from respective prisons, jails and camps has been remitted on 1st August.
The SAC Chairman has pardoned to 7,749 male and female prisoners from relevant jails and camps, 22 members of ethnic armed organizations, and 125 foreign prisoners under the Code of Criminal Procedure Article 401 (1) on condition that “they will have to serve the new punishment together with the remaining punishment to which they were sentenced this time if more offence is committed.
He has permitted to withdrawal of the cases opened against 72 affiliated with ethnic armed organization and commuted the death sentences of certain prisoners to life imprisonment and the foreign prisoners were deported from Myanmar.
Although the State imposed sentences to the prisoners in prisons and jails according to their criminal cases, it is undertaking for their social and health matters as well as the human rights that they should enjoy in line with set standards. That’s why, the prisoners are in good health and happy when they are released and their relatives were warmly welcomed them.
