No. 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) : MOIMSMED DM held meeting on HRPS

On the afternoon of August 21, Deputy Minister for Industry and MSME Development, U Thwin Aung arrived at No. 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) in Taunggyi, Shan State. At the meeting hall, the mill manager presented updates on negotiations regarding a service contract for technical supervision of the Waste Heat Recovery Power Station (HRPS), findings from inspections of the HRPS and related workshops, and the remaining tasks required for HRPS operation, along with plans for forming teams and assigning responsibilities.

The Director-General from the Union Minister's Office discussed policies related to financial expenditures. The Managing Director from No. 1 Heavy Industries reported on the current status of HRPS-related activities and measures for future implementation. Responsible officials also presented on sector-specific progress.

In response to these presentations, the Deputy Minister emphasized that the No. 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) project is of great national importance, urging everyone to contribute their full efforts and collaborate to the best of their abilities. He stressed the need to anticipate future tasks after the installation and operation of the HRPS and to prepare for requirements in advance.

Once construction is completed and production begins, the mill will help meet the country's steel demands, so he specifically instructed that all work be completed according to the scheduled timelines.

Following the meeting, the Deputy Minister visited the HRPS site to inspect the installation of turbine and generator shafts, the Excitation Panel, the Feed Pump, the 75 Tons/Hr Steam Boiler, the generator installation site, and the planned installation of a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to control the hoisting speed of the 32-Ton Crane.

He also examined the Romelt Furnace, Slag Melting Furnace, and raw material conveyor belts at the iron smelting workshop, providing guidance on necessary improvements.

On the morning of August 22, the Deputy Minister, together with the Director-General, Managing Director, General Managers, the mill manager, and responsible officials, discussed and coordinated matters related to the service contract for the refurbishment of the Romelt furnace at the mill's meeting hall.
