ASEAN Sports Day : Commemorative activities held in Nay Pyi Taw

Marking the 59th ASEAN Day which fell on 8th August, 2026 ASEAN Sports Day activities were conducted at Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

In his opening remarks, Union Minister for Sports Affaris U Ye Myint Tun, in his capacity as Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee, underscored the Myanmar’s active participation and ASEAN Sports events and ASEAN Sports Day activities throughout the years. Highlighting the pivotal contribution of sports sector in naion’s development process, the Union Minister encouraged the participating athletes to become ones who bring honor and pride to the nation.

Then, the Union Minister and officials participated in mass walk together with the attendees and enjoyed track and field and tug-of-war competitions. Following this, award presentation ceremony and ASEAN Quiz competition were conducted.

Subsequently, the Union Minister and officials visited Gold Camp and oversaw the archery practice session for the 34th SEA Games, encouraged the athletes and presented honorary cash awards to the outstanding recurve and compound athletes.
