






The Customs Department opened the customs historical museum at its Head-office in Yangon with the aim of keeping historical records of customs changing phase by phase for long-term maintenance and enabling to study collectively historical records and documents at one place.
Myo Thiha, Director, Management and HR Development Sub-Division said “The Customs department is conducting levying taxes for the import and export goods in line with procedures, exposing the illegal import and export trading, confiscating the illegal trades and listing trade statistics. Our department is providing trade development for the country.”
There are two booths exhibiting 12 galleries on records, documents and ancient materials. The 1st booth showcases the location painting of customs office building around 1915. The Custom office was started to build in 1913 and completed in the end of 1915.
The Sea Customs Acts 1878, the Land Customs Acts 1924, the Myanmar Tariff Law 1992, polices, objectives, goal, vision and mission of the Customs Department, maps of the areas and lands under the department and photos of the Customs offices in regions and states among others are also displayed at the booths of the museum. The Customs historical museum was opened on 26th January 2016, marking the 25th International Customs Day.
