The sixth work coordination meeting of the Central Committee for Security Supervision during the Multi-Party Democracy General Election Period was held on January 6 at the "Areindama" Hall of the Myanmar Police Force Headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw.

The meeting was attended by the Central Committee Chairman, Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, who delivered the opening address.

In his opening address,  the Union Minister stated that after the formation of the Central Committee for Security Supervision during the 2025 Multi-Party Democracy General Election Period and its sub-committees, coordination meetings have been held up to the fifth time to successfully carry out security tasks, and today's meeting is the sixth.

He noted that on December 28, 2025, in Phase (1) of the Multi-Party Democracy General Election held in 102 townships, the voter turnout among eligible voters was 52.13%. He also mentioned that international observer groups, domestic and foreign news agencies, and media organizations observed the process during Phase (1) of the election.

He added that despite some disturbances, threats, and attacks by terrorists who oppose the multi-party democracy general election to prevent voters from casting their ballots, the election was successfully held.

For the upcoming Phases (2) and (3) of the election, in order for voters to cast their ballots with peace of mind and security, the weaknesses encountered during Phase (1) should be reviewed. More secure and reliable security measures need to be effectively implemented in coordination with the military, people's militia, public security and anti-terrorism groups, and partner organizations under the command of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Subsequently, the Chairpersons and Secretaries of the Region/State Committees for Security Supervision during the Multi-Party Democracy General Election Period explained the security preparations made according to the conditions of their respective areas for the upcoming elections. Members and Vice-Chairmen of the Central Committee provided supplementary suggestions and discussions.

Following that, a representative from the Union Election Commission made a presentation. After the discussions, the Chairman of the Central Committee, the Union Minister, gave necessary supplementary instructions and concluded the meeting.
