Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe met with member farmers of the Shwe Zeya Production Cooperative Association in Zeyathiri Township on Wednesday. The association plans to grow summer rice on 510 acres with 120 member farmers in the 2026–2027 fiscal year.

The Union Minister said the government has supported farmers with high-yield rice seeds and agricultural inputs through state funds and cooperative programs, using a crop-based repayment system. Harvested paddy has been purchased and milled at the cooperative-owned rice mill.

He explained that the support aims to improve rural livelihoods, create job opportunities, increase household income, and achieve target crop yields. He urged farmers to use quality seeds, apply both chemical and natural fertilizers efficiently, use irrigation water wisely, follow systematic farming methods, maintain village cleanliness, work in unity, and repay government loans on time.

The Union Minister later inspected the cooperative’s rice mill, which has processed more than 500,000 baskets of paddy and produced over 186,000 bags of rice since January 2023.
