Floods cause destruction in the Argentineprovince of Tucumán

A series of storms has caused flooding in the northern Argentine province of Tucumán since Sunday, leaving dozens evacuated.

The province had been experiencing heavy rains since December, accumulating 70% of its annual rainfall. The Tucuman governor said at a press conference on Tuesday that "170 millimeters of rain fell, and the river and drainage system are overwhelmed and the water table is saturated," On Tuesday, the local government suspended schools throughout the province until Friday due to the severe weather.

In addition, the government deployed assistance for rescue operations and the prevention of flood-related illnesses, among other tasks.
