Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok on Saturday signed a constitutional amendment ending his own term as head of state. Parliament has a 30-day deadline to officially elect a new president to serve for up to five years or until a new constitution takes effect. Sulyok was elected by Hungary's former Fidesz-majority parliament in 2024 for a five-year term.
