Traffic accident killed nine in eastern Türkiye

At least nine people have been killed and five others injured in a collision between a truck and a passenger minibus in eastern Türkiye.

The accident occurred on the Van-Özalp highway, around 49 kilometres from Van, at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time. The vehicles collided on a road made slippery by heavy rainfall. Police, gendarmerie, emergency response teams, medical personnel and firefighters were dispatched to the scene following the incident. The highway was temporarily closed to traffic following the crash, and an investigation has been launched.
