







The "Field Demonstration for Selection of New Hybrid Corn Varieties," aimed at commercial production of hybrid corn seeds through public-private partnership, was held on the morning of February 23rd at the Agricultural Research Farm in Tatkone Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
The event was attended by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, U Min Naung, along with departmental officials, representatives from seed companies, and local farmers. At the field demonstration for selecting new hybrid corn varieties, representatives from seed companies and farmers presented their opinions and recommendations on the quality and yield potential of (28) new hybrid corn varieties, with relevant experts providing responses and engaging in discussions.
Following this, the Union Minister attended and graced the ceremony for providing funds to support model villages under the Village New Movement Activity, implemented with a grant from the Enhanced Cook Stoves Distribution Project in Myanmar. The ceremony was held at the hall of the Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Training Centre (AERDTC) in Yezin, Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
Subsequently, the Union Minister attended the ceremony for the handover of (1,020) metric tons of rice donated by Korea under the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve Agreement (APTERR) - Tier 3 Programme. The event took place at the Zabuthiri Hall of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Office.
According to the programme, Union Minister U Min Naung handed over (1,020) metric tons of rice (25,500 bags) to U Than Tun Oo, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Daw Council. This rice is part of the (3,000) metric tons donated by the Republic of Korea under the APTERR Programme - Tier 3 (2025) for the people affected by the earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025.
It is intended for distribution to earthquake-affected people within the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. The handover of 1,020 metric tons of rice donated by Korea marks the second donation for earthquake victims. The first donation of 1,360 metric tons of rice was handed over in June 2025 and has already been distributed to those affected by the earthquake, it’s reported.
