Media Cooperation : Asia-Pacific Media Forum held in Shenzhen

The Asia-Pacific Media Forum was held at the Qianhai International Convention Center in Shenzhen of China on Saturday.

Officials and media representatives from China, Asia-Pacific countries and international organizations attended the forum.

Speakers included UN Under-Secretary-General Melissa Fleming, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department Li Shulei, Communist Party Secretary of Guangdong and a member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party Huang Kunming, Xinhua Editor-in-Chief Lyu Yansong, and representatives from Pakistan, Russia, the IMF, CNN, Peru and China Power Grid Co., Ltd.

The participants also exchanged memorandums of understanding on media cooperation. In the afternoon session, Deputy Minister of Information U Ye Tint and media representatives from China, Cambodia, Indonesia and Malaysia delivered remarks.

The Deputy Minister said that media plays an increasingly important role in promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region, especially amid the spread of fake news and misinformation, technological gaps and global challenges. During the forum, the Deputy Minister answered questions from Xinhua News Agency on cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries and the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
