







The ceremony for the 77th International Human Rights Day was held at the Myanmar International Convention Center-1 in Nay Pyi Taw on December 10.
The Executive Chief of the National Defense and Security Council Office, U Aung Lin Dwe, attended and delivered an address. First, the Executive Chief, U Aung Lin Dwe, delivered the address. He stated that today, on December 10, 2025, marks the 77th anniversary of the adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN General Assembly, as well as International Human Rights Day.
Since ceremonies for International Human Rights Day are traditionally held in countries worldwide, Myanmar is also holding this ceremony to demonstrate its emphasis on human rights. He noted that to respect human rights and enable international cooperation, successive Governments have signed and become parties to international human rights conventions.
The establishment of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission to promote and protect the human rights of citizens living in the country is also an example demonstrating the Government's emphasis on human rights. In a democratic system, general elections are vital and extremely important; therefore, efforts are being emphasized to ensure the election's success and legality.
He also said that all ethnic peoples need to unite and cooperate for a dignified and successful election and to firmly establish the multi-party democracy path. He mentioned that this year's UN theme for International Human Rights Day is "Our Everyday Essentials," which aims to express that human rights are indispensable and crucially important in the daily lives of all human beings etc.
Following that, the Chairman of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, U Paw Lwin Sein, explained the Commission's ongoing implementation activities. Commission Member Dr. Myint Thu Myaing then read out the commemorative message for International Human Rights Day sent by the UN Secretary-General, and a commemorative video clip for International Human Rights Day was shown.
Subsequently, the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission personally presented a commemorative gift to Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe. Then, the Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe, along with the ceremony attendees, then toured and viewed the international human rights treaties to which Myanmar is a party, translated versions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in ethnic languages, illustrated publications about the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission in Russian and English, photographic records of the Commission's activities, and published books and papers on human rights being distributed.
