Labour Affairs: Meeting on ILO recommendations

Union Minister for Labour U Khin Maung Soe on Wednesday attended a meeting of the Leading Committee for implementing recommendations made by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Commission of Inquiry (CoI) on Myanmar.

The meeting discussed the implementation of recommendations related to freedom of association under ILO Convention No. 87, and forced labour under Convention No. 29.

Attendees also discussed workers’ rights and benefits, the freedom to form labour organizations, and work operations of the National Complaint Mechanism for addressing forced labour complaints. The committee also reviewed Myanmar’s cooperation with the ILO and preparations for a progress report to be submitted to the ILO Governing Body meeting in November 2026.
