Capacity Development Programme: Myanmar parliamentary delegation visits India

A Myanmar parliamentary delegation led by Dr. Pwint San, Chairman of the Pyithu Hluttaw International Relations Committee, and U Chit Swe, Chairman of the Amyotha Hluttaw Public Accounts Committee, attended a capacity development programme in India from September 1 to 8.

During the visit, the delegation met with Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla on September 2 and Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Shri Pabitra Margherita on September 7. The delegation discussed India’s parliamentary system, lawmaking, committee work, budgeting, constituency management, constitutional affairs, foreign policy and parliamentary leadership.

They also visited UNESCO World Heritage sites and the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya museum. The visit is expected to strengthen the capacity of Myanmar Hluttaw Representatives and promote cooperation and friendship between the parliaments of Myanmar and India.
