Honoring Outstanding Students: SSPC Vice Chairman delivered the opening speech

An awards ceremony honored the children of military personnel, retired soldiers, civilian staff, and military families who passed the 2024-2025 matriculation examination with distinction and students who won awards for academic excellence, as well as state-level prizes for essays, articles, paintings, cartoons, and mathematics was held at the Zeya Thiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw, in the afternoon on August 26.

On behalf of the Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Vice-Chairman of the commission and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, Vice Senior General Soe Win, attended the ceremony and gave a congratulatory speech and presented the awards to the outstanding students.

First, on behalf of the Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Vice-Chairman of the commission and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, Vice Senior General Soe Win, gave a congratulatory speech.

He noted that since the 2011-2012 academic year, the Tatmadaw has annually honored the outstanding achievements of military families' children, veterans' children, and other all-around exceptional young people after the matriculation exam results are announced. He stated that this is the 14th time such a ceremony has been held. He announced that the awards ceremony would proudly honor those who excelled in the 2024-2025 academic year, including 20 students with six distinctions, 46 students with five distinctions, 88 students with four distinctions, 1 soldier with one distinction, 3 best-performing military-affiliated basic education high schools, the 3 best-performing military education schools.

Additionally, awards will be given to 43 students for academic excellence, 2 students for state-level awards in essays, articles, paintings, and cartoons, and 1 student for a mathematics award. He also mentioned that awards would be presented at separate ceremonies for each military command, honoring 248 students with three distinctions, 238 students with two distinctions, 397 students with one distinction and 78 recipients of university scholarships.

The Vice Senior General said that to recognize the students' successful efforts in fulfilling their academic duties, each student who won a distinction award will receive a quarter-tical of gold per distinction, while students who won academic excellence awards will receive three-quarters of a tical of gold each. Those who won state-level awards for essays, articles, paintings, and cartoons will receive three-quarters, a half, and a quarter of a tical of gold for first, second, and third place, respectively.

In the award presenting agenda, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, presented awards to 3 students who won academic excellence awards, 1 student who won a state-level article and essay competition, and 3 students who earned six distinctions. They each received a medal, an award, and a certificate of honor.

Vice-Chairman of the commission and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, Vice Senior General Soe Win, presented awards to the heads of three military-affiliated basic education high schools that achieved the best overall results in the 2024-2025 matriculation examination. He also presented awards to 2 students who won academic excellence awards, 1 student who won a state-level mathematics competition, and 1 student who earned six distinctions. They received medals, awards, and certificates of appreciation.

Awards were also presented by Daw Than Than Nwe, wife of Vice Senior General Soe Win; U Nyo Saw, commission member and Prime Minister, and his wife; U Aung Lin Dwe, commission member and Chief Executive and his wife; General Ye Win Oo, commission secretary and Joint Chief Executive and his wife; other commission members and their wives; Union-level officials and their wives; the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy and his wife; the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force and his wife; the Chairman of the Myanmar War Veterans Organization; the Chief of Military Affairs; and the Chief of Military Logistics. They all presented medals, awards, and certificates of appreciation to the students and military personnel who earned academic excellence and other distinctions.

After the awards were presented, a student representative expressed words of gratitude on behalf of all the award-winning students and military personnel.

Then, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Vice-Chairman of the commission and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services, Vice Senior General Soe Win, and other commission members took a group photo with the award recipients and officials.

Vice Senior General Soe Win hosted a reception for the attendees. After the reception, Vice Senior General Soe Win and other officials cordially greeted the students, military personnel, and their parents and teachers.
