British Prime Minister Keir Starmer used the first Downing Street garden party of the year to highlight new UK-EU agreements on fishing, energy, passports, and trade improvements designed to ease business between the two sides.
Keir Starmer, UK Prime Minister said "There's a mood change. There's a mood change in the relationship, which is worth all of the strands, or equally worth all the strands of the EU and the UK wanting to work together. All of us prepared to say, let yesterday be yesterday. We're looking forward to tomorrow. We're not going to litigate old arguments. We're going to go forward in the spirit that what we do together, we do better and great benefit to working people across the EU and across the UK."
He also noted major European investments in the UK, including projects by Rheinmetall, Knauf Insulation, and NewCold, totaling hundreds of millions of pounds. Starmer emphasized that the new SPS agreement reduces red tape, allowing 72% of British-caught fish easier access to the European market. The prime minister expressed confidence that annual summits will continue to advance UK-EU collaboration, underlining the government’s commitment to national interests.
