EU gives final approval to tariff measures under EU-US trade deal

The Council of the European Union on Thursday granted final approval to the EU-US tariff and trade agreement, establishing a 15% tariff ceiling on most EU exports to the US while eliminating EU tariffs on US industrial goods. The bloc pushed through the ratification just ahead of a July 4 deadline set by US President Donald Trump. The agreement’s tariff preferences expire on December 31, 2029, unless formally extended.
