French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday met at a bilateral summit in Riviera to establish a stronger strategic partnership and align on major geopolitical and European policies.

Both leaders announced plans to build a multinational coalition to support and secure Lebanon following the end of the UNIFIL mandate. They also agree to strengthen the defense technology sector. The summit served as a platform to discuss European unity and leverage shared interests, particularly in the wake of Meloni's recent diplomatic rift with the US administration.
