Coordination Meeting: Household registration and population lists discussed

The Union Election Commission held a coordination meeting at the meeting hall of the UEC in Nay Pyi Taw on January 8th to discuss the completion of household registration numbers and the ground-level verification of population lists.

During the meeting, the UEC Chairman U KoKo, gave a speech in which he emphasized that the Commission is working to ensure readiness for the elections. He highlighted that the most crucial task in an election is the accuracy and completeness of the voter list.

He mentioned that the population lists, based on form (66/6) provided by the Ministry of Immigration and Population, and the ground-level population lists sent by the General Administration Department, are being compiled by the Commission.

He further explained that the process of transferring the basic voter list from the population list based on form (66/6) has already been carried out. The Commission also confirmed that the ground-level population lists sent by the Central Voter List Management System (CVLMS) are being properly compiled.

The Chairman stressed the importance of ensuring a complete and accurate voter list, facilitating the ease of voting for voters, and ensuring the verification of population lists at the ground level.He also mentioned that the support from regional and state governments would be crucial, and he urged them to assist in the necessary tasks.

Following this, UEC member U Aung LwinOo presented the activities related to the ground-level verification process. The Chairman discussed the procedures that need to be carried out by the Commission, the Ministry of Immigration and Population, and the General Administration Department.

Next, UEC member U Than Soe presented the actions, findings, and necessary steps related to the basic population list. The officials form the General Administration Department and the Electronic Registration Department clarified the requirements in the process and the plans to be carried out.

The Deputy Director-General of the Union Election Commission then presented how the household numbers should be assigned and filled in the voter lists, in relation to the specific administrative groups.After that, the participants presented their clarifications, and the Chairman of the UEC concluded the meeting with closing remarks.
