At the brefing hall, officials made clarifications on completion of renovation works, aid and cash assistance to earthquake affected people distributed by National Disaster Management Committee.
On the reports, the Vice Senior General instructed for arrival of donated items and cash to those affected people and conducting region development works without wasting budget allocation of the state and coordinated the needs.
After touring around the pagoda platform to inspected renovations of damaged areas and implementation of better water flow and greening works of the lake, the Vice Senior General coordinated the needs. Due to the Mandalay earthquake that struck on March 28, 2025, the main temple of Inle Phaungdaw U Pagoda was slightly damaged at the junction of the main staircase on the northern side and the main temple.
The east, west, and southern sides of the staircase were also shifted for about three to six inches since they are not connected to the main temple. With the collaborative efforts of local state engineers and experts from the Myanmar Engineering Society, the original structure of the pagoda was restored without losing its original structure.
As a result, 100 percent of renovation and restoration works of the damage areas of the pagoda were completed. Pilgrims can now visit safely and pay homage to the pagoda with peace of mind, while the new staircase at the northern gate is being built for the convenience of the visitors.
