Combating Online Scams: Crackdown on illegal online gambling and scams

Myanmar is actively fighting illegal online scams and gambling, which have been causing harm globally. Security forces and local authorities have been working together to eliminate these activities in Shwekokko and KK Park areas.

On February 26, a raid near Metta Lin Myaing Village, in Myawady Township, led to the arrest of 156 foreign nationals, including Chinese, Thai, Filipino, Cambodian, and Russian citizens, involved in illegal online gambling and scams. Authorities seized 110 computers, 2200 mobile phones, and other business materials.

The foreign nationals are being held at the Myawady Myoma Police Station, where further investigations are ongoing. The government is committed to preventing illegal online activities and will cooperate with neighboring countries to tackle the issue.
