On October 14th, Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun, accompanied by concerned officials inspected the electricity generation of the Tigyit coal-fired power plant, damaged coal extraction site and the completed repairs at the Belu Creek pumping station in Panglong Township, Shan State (South).

Upon arrival at the Tigyit coal-fired power plant, the Union Minister and party reviewed reports on electricity transmission, annual power generation, maintenance, and coal procurement as well as construction progress. The Union Minister noted that generator No. (1) is now operational and emphasized the need to restart generator No. (2) as soon as possible.

He urged all efforts to maximize electricity generation and maintain the machines systematically. He instructed the team to plan the machines' capacities and expedite the phase 2 completion of the coal dryer construction.

He also met with the staff, fulfilled their needs, and presented flower basket in honor. The Union Minister and party then monitored the re-operation of generator No. 1, inspected power generation in the turbine rooms and maintenance tasks while fulfilling the operational needs.

The Union Minister and party visited the coal extraction site of Eden Energy and Natural Resources Development Company Limited, where he reviewed the restoration efforts and coal mining operations. He instructed the continuous mining and delivery of necessary coal quantities and the collection of reserve coal.

Next, the Union Minister and party inspected the Belu Creek water pump station and reviewed silt removal, pump accessories, control panels and transformer repairs. He instructed measures to prevent further flood damage and fulfilled the needs.

The Tigyit coal-fired power plant temporarily halted power generation due to damage inflicted by Typhoon Yagi. In response, repair efforts commenced swiftly to facilitate a rapid restoration of operations. Generator No. 1 was installed on October 11, 2024, and has since resumed generating electricity. Efforts are underway to reactivate generator No. 2 and secure timely coal extraction.
